Go Katie Go!!!
I'm so proud of my baby...I just had to share the good news....
Katie has been working so hard in gymnastics over the past few years and yesterday we were told by her coach that there is a spot on the Level 3, competitive gymnastics team for her!!! This is such a big honor for her as spots on the Team are by invitational only!! We've been invited by the Head Coach to attend a meeting later in the week for all the details....but I'm already SO EXCITED & SO PROUD!!
We will be sure to post the official results and news......until then....I might have to sell my kidneys on the black market just for the expenses!! Hahaha...no seriously!! ; )

Don't ya just hate it....
I tell ya there's nothing like having to change a baby's diaper and realize you're out of wipes! Solution? Make your own! I actually learned this little trick while working at a daycare/preschool. One of the babies in my class had really sensitive skin. His mother was a Dermatologist and taught me how to make them once while babysitting.
Here is a list of the items you will need:
And there you have it! Homemade baby wipes!
Here is a list of the items you will need:
- A roll of paper towels (Warning: cheap & thin will rip)
- Your favorite baby wash
- Baby oil (If you don't have any lying around, you can use olive or vegetable oil, too. Preferably organic!)
- A round tupperware container with lid (a recycled wipe box works fine, too!)
And there you have it! Homemade baby wipes!
My New Kicks
So, now that I'm a stay-at-home Mom, my days consist of washing laundry, folding laundry, changing diapers, running all over town, and menu planning at Chez Moore (that's my house if you didn't catch my French). I wish that I could report a more glamorous lifestyle, but I fear that would be more exhausting!
So lately, I've gotten on a Rachael Ray & Pinterest kick. I've discovered so many wonderful recipes and fun things to do with my kids. We actually started this back in the summer, but it's gone full swing at our house. My biggest obsession has been with food. Not only am I looking to feed my family well, I'm also looking for recipes that don't require a lot of time in the kitchen! I actually love cooking...it's the cleaning part that I don't like! All of the recipes that I have tried have been winners around the dinner table....and I even have made a couple of dishes that were "creations" of my own. No complaints! Just silence...which means everyone is eating! When I say everyone....yes, I mean the baby, too! Izaak has become curious about food and even fusses at me when he's not getting any! Of course, he can't sample the fine foods we have to offer, so I decided to make him his own. Once you know you're expecting, there comes a list about a mile long of things you will need, things to look forward to...yeah...and well...buying baby food wasn't one of them! I figure the little squirt can eat whats in my kitchen! Since I keep my freezer stocked with frozen veggies, I figured I'd dust off the old blender and purée me some baby food! Green beans were the first thing I saw, so I went with that. The green "mush" wasn't a hit with the girls (No....they didn't eat it...they were just grossed out by it!), but Izaak gave it a whirl......and he liked it! My crowning moment of the day! By the look of things, I'll be asking for food processor for Christmas!

The quickest year
It wasn't until a month or so ago that I noticed that I haven't updated our blog in quite some time....almost a year to be exact. Staring at the date, this has been the quickest year of my life!
Since the last time I updated, our biggest news is that we have added a new member to our family! Let me back track a minute....It was shortly after my father passed away that we received the good news. I had been expressing for some time that I was wanting one more shot at becoming pregnant, but had no idea that it was about to become a reality. I realize now, that the news was nothing short of a miracle and couldn't have come at a better time. My Dad and I often talked about me wanting another baby, so I feel that God gave me something joyous to focus on other than the fact that my Dad was gone. So, last October, I randomly took a test (and I had been charting mother nature up until this point) only to see the words "pregnant" suddenly appear. I honestly didn't know whether to scream for joy or just scream! I literally didn't know what to do! I always carry my phone to the bathroom with me simply because it's the one moment of the day where I can sit in peace and not have anyone disturb me (and if your a Mom...you know what I mean...and know that the moment really didn't last that long)! Plus I find this an opportune time to check my email and waste valuable seconds looking at Facebook! So, in haste, I called a girlfriend of mine and spilled the beans! Yes....I told my girlfriend BEFORE I told my husband....terrible I know! In hindsight, I think I was waiting to see what her reaction would be so that I could judge what his reaction would be...yada yada yada....but as soon as I came out of the bathroom I was busted for suspicious activity! I'm sure I was never REALLY good at lying as a teenager ( I mean...who really is?), but it's really hard not to crack a smile when you're harboring news like that!
My pregnancy was indeed a blessing in disguise and I put most of my energy into staying healthy and preparing for our baby. By March, I was hit with unbearable back pains that made even standing up...well...just a pain! I was told that I had sciatic nerve pain, but later discovered that my age had finally caught up with me and that my hips were giving out to the weight of carrying a watermelon around. Because I was prescribed physical therapy two to three times a week, and knew I could be penalized for missing work, we decided it was time for me to hang up my hat and stay at home. Some days were just plain miserable, but I made it through. By the end of May, we planned for an induction and welcomed our son one week earlier than expected. On May 23rd, at exactly 5pm, we welcomed Izaak Alasdair into our lives. He weighed 7 lbs., 11 oz. and was 20 3/4 in. long. He is a beautiful, healthy, & happy baby boy! We couldn't be happier to add such a precious little creature (and BROTHER) to our family! we can now say....our family is complete! Yes sir....we are DONE....FINITO!!!
Our summer has been very joyous and fun-filled! Of course, there's been a little adjustment period for everyone, but we've managed to get the hang of having adding a third child to the mix! We've spent our days with family & friends, swimming, trips to the Zoo, and trying out fun little projects with the kids!
Now....it's BACK TO SCHOOL! We're rounding out our full 2nd week of school and gymnastics (yes...we're back!). Katie is now at a new school, starting 6th grade & embarking on Middle School adventures. Aeris remained at her previous school, but is now in 1st grade! And this Mom....well, I think I smell a stinky diaper!!

Another month gone BYE : )
So, I'm sitting here reflecting on the fact that tomorrow is the first day of October....and I have to wonder....where the heck did September go? And is it just me or does time just move faster as you get older?
Well...in the spirit of Fall...which I love for its vibrant orange colors, football season, and chili eating...I suppose its getting time to dust off the decorations and decorate the front porch with pumpkins, hay....and a RAZORBACK flag!! On my next weekend off, I may have to open my creativity box and get crazy with the kids help!! I'll be sure to post on how well this works out....but in the meantime....here are a few ideas that I love!!
I absolutely love these...and like the idea that you can choose your own ingredients to get the look you want....perfect for our kitchen!!
We always have mini pumpkins, so I like this idea!!
And something, even I think I could master!! I think I'd have to find mini pumpkins and gourds with a little more sparkle, though....a hint of shimmer!!
