I became a single mom at the age of 24. 5 years later, I watched as my house grew from 2 to 4. Now a blogger & creator of Mommy Dig, and as a Thriving mom, I share my duties and mishaps as C.E.O. of 3 children and one crazy cat. Everyday is an adventure. I may lose my mind, but I'm loving every minute of it!!

Spring/ Summer 2010 (Update)

Ok...so I have majorly slacked when it comes to our blog...but for good reason. Here's an update on our adventures over the past months.....

If you haven't heard the good news...I'm officially a COLLEGE GRAD!! During the Spring semester, I still had credit hours to fulfill. Its all a blur now, but most of my semester was spent finishing an Internship that I had with the LRPD. I could give you a song and dance about how great it was, but truthfully, it was rather boring. I pretty much just made phone calls to people who either had their vehicles stolen or their "junk" inside was stolen. Car break-ins are pretty common....and with mounds of cases piling up, I learned real fast there wasn't much to be done about it. Here's a few tips: make sure you lock your vehicle (even if it's parked safely in your garage); don't leave anything lingering around the dash area that you wouldn't want someone to see; and if anything is mountable (and you don't want it taken)...mount it!! So...along with my Internship, I was suffering through (what I refer to as) "Math 4 Dummies". Thinking I was going to make it through this class, I walked at graduation this past May. Unfortunately, I still had credits to fulfill and was forced to go to summer school. Oh, how fun it was....yeah right!! Eventually, I made it through, and am now waiting to receive the most expensive piece of paper I will ever own....unless you include our mortgage papers on our house! HA!

The girls were true troopers this summer....never forgetting to raise plenty of chaos while I was trying to study. Thanks to family, Aeris spent most of her days swimming and fishing. She caught her very first fish this summer and was oh so proud to tell about it. Once the imagination of a 4 year old takes over, you can just imagine how big that fish actually was.....and amazingly, he grew bigger and bigger each time she told her "fishing tail" (and yes, I meant to spell it that way)!! Sister spent most of the summer with her dad and his family. It was especially helpful to me, but she had a blast!! She spent time traveling to New York, Philly,  Pennsylvania, Boston, D.C., and California....was that this summer?....and saw Niagara Falls (and I mean she REALLY experienced it....just ask her how wet she got!). I'm sure you can imagine how green with envy I am, but I'm glad she's been given the opportunity to see may things that I haven't and would love to see!! As for Steven and I...well...we're saving up for vacation....without the kids!! HAHA!!

Another great happening was that we all got to celebrate my Grandfather's 90th birthday!! That's alot of living to do, but he's had a great life, and is bound to have more great years ahead. My Aunt Ching-a-Ling put together a fabulous party for him by bringing in family that we haven't seen in years. We were the last to stagger in, but I hear his expressions were priceless! Although Steven tends to be good at becoming wall decor, we had a great time. I'm just happy to know my Grandfather is still around....and that I kept my promise to graduate before he died (I guess that was a "bucket list" item)! And if you haven't seen him...you should get a load...he's one snazzy man for his age! Ummm...I hope my genes are that good!

Now what? Summer is just about over....and thank goodness because the heat here in Arkansas is miserable and is killing everything in it's path....well....not quite! I'll be spending alot of time job/career hunting (and if you know of any good jobs out there, my ears are open)! Technically, school start back on the 19th, but really....only one of them is going back! Our girls are headed to pre-K and the 4th grade. next year, they head to college! Times flies!!

Hope everyone had a great summer! Bring on the FALL!
